THE GREEN GOOD DESIGN AWARDS 2010
•Application Deadline

"This new edition of GOOD DESIGN aims to bring a parallel public
appreciation and awareness for an equally revolutionary design approach—a new
design thinking led by a current generation of visionary architects, designers, urban planners, corporations, governments, individuals, and private and public institutions for a design and a public environment based upon the ideals of energy conservation; the reduction of toxic waste and greenhouse gases; the diminishing dependence on fossil fuels; and a sensitivity for waste, pollution, and the depletion of the world’s energy resources. PSi 16 Performing Publics
•Application Deadline
01.11.2009
9–13 June 2010, Toronto, Canada
PSi 16, Performing Publics, will take place in Toronto as part of a collaboration between York University’s Faculty of Fine Arts and the Ontario College of Art & Design. The conference will investigate the power of performance to intervene in, reshape, and reinvigorate the public sphere at the beginning of the twenty-first century. We invite proposals that take up notions of “public” in a variety of ways, pointing to the critically generative and fraught aspects of the term as it has been adopted within performance studies. The conference will be staged during Toronto’s annual Luminato Festival, and will provide several opportunities for participants to experience and reflect on its dynamic arts programming.
Shift proposals:
Continuing the explorations of PSi 15, we invite proposals for “shifts”: innovative session formats that push the boundaries of the well-constructed panel. These may include workshops, performances, and interactive events.
All proposals should be submitted online by filling out the PSi 16 “Proposal Form” at: http://psi16.com/cfp/submissions/

Journey Into the Known, Dr Kahn-Harris
•Application Deadline
06.11.2009
In this presentation and workshop, Keith Kahn-Harris, author of ‘Extreme
Metal: Music and Culture on the Edge’ asks: ‘How do we mourn the death
of the unknown?’
In the first half Dr Kahn-Harris will put on a multimedia presentation
arguing that the history of metal scenes since 1989 are a symptom of a
wider process of the ‘unknown becoming known’ whose apotheosis was the
revolutions in Eastern Europe in 1989.
In the second half of the workshop, participants will be asked to try
and capture and mourn their first exposure to a subculture, scene or
previously secret world. Using art, writing or other creative mediums
participants will produce a collective ‘scrapbook’ of poignant and
nostalgic moments in the death of the unknown.

Found Footage!
•Application Deadline

Found Footage!
Christmas 2009 feature on VideoChannel
According to [Wikipedia] -->
"Found footage is a filmmaking term which describes a method of compiling films partly or entirely of footage which has not been created by the filmmaker, and changing its meaning by placing it in a new context. The term refers to the "found object" (objet trouvé) of art history."
VideoChannel is looking for some excellent films and videos using "found footage" as a relevant component of the film/video making which are planned to form also the basis for FFF (Found Footage Film) collection. For the online feature in December and later physical screenings, however, is most relevant, that no authors rights are violated by the creator using "found footage".
