The Art of Storytelling - Call for Moving Image & Performance
Storytelling has been shared in every society as a means of entertainment, education, cultural preservation or to instil morale or wisdom. Whether they are fables or true histories, improvisation or embellishment, delivered through the printed word, gestures or language - we each hold a story. The art of storytelling has undergone many changes as it has been passed down through the generations, moving from oral, written and illustration, to more technological based mediums; the story has grown and been adapted. Some have been forgotten and lost.
The Cutting Room are looking for artworks that explore and push these boundaries of storytelling.

Duration:London
•Application Deadline
08.11.2010
We envision Duration:London as a series of events that gather film, video and sound pieces which explore the ambiguities & absurdities of our contemporary existence. Whether it is approached from a fine-arts, documentary, experimental, formal, abstract or interdisciplinary angle, we believe that there is value in fostering a space which provides a forum for sharing which is neither a gallery, a juried film festival or an institution.
It is our goal to provoke discussion, open a dialogue and respect the significance of short works that perhaps fall in the grey zone between the "art world" and the "film industry".
We have scheduled screenings/happenings on September 29th, October 27th & November 24th, 2009.
Deadline ongoing until November 8th, 2009

Call for Art - Reset
•Application Deadline
12.11.2010
Reset will focus on the implications associated with breaking and fixing. The exhibit will explore the efficacy of solutions along with insightful representations of problems.
As a group of young artists situated in the Midwest experiencing the shifting economy, class struggles, and simply the anxiety of change we have found these problems to be universal yet no less concerning. In addition to commonality, these issues have a cyclical nature over time and culture. With Reset we intend make clear just how problematic the acts of both breaking and fixing can be.

Call for entries - Everything is Just Wonderful!
•Application Deadline

Concept of the Exhibition
Politics is ashaming the world, it’s no news. And there is not much we can
do.
Still, we can laugh about it.
John Heartfield/Helmut Harzfeld knew that, and back in the 40’s
entertained Europe with his amazing and satirical photocollages, striking
the regime right in its strictness with a totally peaceful but dangerous
power: the power to ridiculize.
“Everything is Just Wonderful!” is thus born under the bad influence of
John Heartfield, but obviously every means is permitted when it comes to
the satire.
