The Diversity Development Fund (DDF)

The Diversity Development Fund (DDF) provides up to $15,000 in research and development funding to producers of color to develop single documentary programs for public television. Funded activities may include travel, research, script development, preliminary production for fundraising/work-in-progress reels, or other early phase activities.

DDF accepts:
-Projects that have not yet begun production
-Programs that can become eligible for ITVS production funding initiatives as single programs of standard broadcast length (half-hour or one-hour). In rare cases ITVS will consider feature-length programs.

The Big Draw Berlin - Das große Zeichnen

Unter dem diesjährigen Festivalmotto Drawing Space sollen zeichnerische Aspekte von Raum und Zeichnung in den Fokus genommen werden. Alle Formate sind gefragt: Workshops, Performances, Zeichenspaziergänge, theoretische Annäherungen an das Thema oder zeichnerische Umnutzungen von Räumen. Bei Bedarf unterstützen wir euch gern bei der Vermittlung von Künstler_innen.

Da unsere Finanzierung bis zuletzt auf wackeligen Füssen stand, setzen wir auf Spontaneität und freuen uns auf die Zusendung Eurer Aktionen bis zum 07. September 2012. Nutzt das Festival als Möglichkeit zur Erprobung von Ideen oder um eure Arbeit einer größeren Öffentlichkeit zu präsentieren und helft uns dabei die vielfältige Zeichenszene in der Stadt sichtbar zu machen.

es ist wieder soweit. Nach einjähriger Pause findet in diesem Jahr das Zeichenfestival THE BIG DRAW BERLIN zum dritten mal statt. An drei Tagen - vom 12. - 14. Oktober wird in ganz Berlin gezeichnet: In der U-Bahn, vor dem Fernseher, auf der Straße, in Projekträumen, Galerien, Gärten und Museen. Ob auf dem Boden oder an Wänden, drinnen oder draußen, winzigklein oder riesengroß, miteinander oder allen, mit Stift oder Klebeband: Ziel allein ist es möglichst viele Personen in Zeichenaktivitäten zu verwickeln.

Während wir am 12. Oktober die Ergebnisse von drei Schulprojekten öffentlich präsentieren und am 13. Oktober zum ganz grossen Zeichnen in die Uferhallen einladen, rufen wir Künstler_innen, Projekträume, Galerien, Museen und andere Interessierte auf, sich am 14. Oktober mit eigenen Aktivitäten am Festival zu beteiligen.

Open Call: visual artists in various media and disciplines

The call is open for all visual artists. Due to the diversity of our workshops, the application is open for projects in various media and disciplines. Projects with a notice of the specific geographical, cultural, social or historical situation of FLACC (or Genk/Belgium), challenging the notion of a 'workplace' or with the specific technical possibilities of FLACC are preferable. The work period is three-month full time or around 90 days, divided in several smaller work periods between January 2014 and December 2014. FLACC offers an accommodation, a workplace, covered travel expenses as well as a small production budget.
Please use our aapplication form for your application. It should include a well-defined project proposal, a thoroughly calculated budget (download excel sheet), a preferable time frame and your résumé (text and images and/or video).

The Keyholder Residency Program offers emerging artists free 24-hour access to printmaking facilities to develop new work and foster their artistic careers. Residencies are free and one year long, starting on April 1st and October 1st each year, and they take place in the shared Artists’ Studio, including the solvent/etching area and the darkroom.

Keyholders work independently, in a productive atmosphere alongside other contemporary artists. Artists from all disciplines are eligible to apply; print-making skills are not required, but some familiarity with the medium is recommended. Basic instruction in printmaking techniques is available for new Keyholders. Technical assistance is not included in the program, but is available at additional cost.

Asialink Arts Residency Program 2013

Asialink residencies are professional development opportunities rather than specific project grants. Each year the Asialink Arts Residency Program sends approximately 30 Australian writers, performers, artists and arts managers to undertake residencies in Asia. Since its inception in 1991 the program has sent more than 680 people to host organisations in over 20 countries.
A travel grant of up to $12,000 for three months is provided to each resident to assist with airfares, accommodation, living expenses, materials and production costs. This is the eighth year in which the interdisciplinary symposium IMPACT has invited artists, practitioners, theoreticians and s, new media and film to engage critically with the artistic strategies and working methods of progressive guest artists, to test their approaches in practice and to question them with reference to their own background.
In this 8th edition, IMPACT12: Undercover presents three artistic
positions that demonstrate, in the most varied of ways, a human presence
in fashion, music, film, sculpture and performance by revealing a real and
concrete practise. Playfully they wander through the genres, using
sophisticatedly constructed, maximally reduced and excessively euphoric
practices.
Symposium fee: 100 € which includes the 3­ day­ symposium, 1 performance, 1 lecture presentation and 7 meals.

The annual international furniture design competition Andreu World is now open for entries. In its 12th - 2012 edition - the competition is once again seeking for innovative designs for a chair and/or table.
Group or individual entries are eligible and more than one entry per competitor can be submitted.
The competition is open both to design students and to professionals, without age limit.

The Hellenic Centre for Photography invites submissions for the Young Greek Photographers 2012 exhibition. The Young Greek Photographers since 1987, has been promoting the work of new Greek photographers, between the ages of 18-35, who may well emerge as some of the finest of their generation in Greece.
Each proposal should be a developed portfolio of 8-12 photographs based on a particular theme.
The selected projects will be presented in the upcoming Αthens Photo Festival, which takes place in Athens during the months of October and November.

Visual&Sound Arts facil­i­tates mobil­ity and exchange of cit­i­zens of the Visegrad Group (V4) coun­tries in the fields of visual and sound arts. The artist-in-residence projects must be imple­mented in a V4 coun­try other than that of the applicant’s res­i­dence. Supported period of each res­i­dency is 3 months. To apply for res­i­dency, each appli­cant has to find a host orga­ni­za­tion, which will accept his/her res­i­dency project.
Selected artists will receive a res­i­dency fee (schol­ar­ship) of €750 per month and the cor­re­spond­ing host orga­ni­za­tion will receive €750 per month to cover expenses related to the res­i­dency (each res­i­dency project receives €4,500 in total).

The 10th anniversary edition of this prestigious international film event will be held in October 2012. Eye Candy is a curated illustration and design festival that promotes striking talent from the UK and beyond. Selecting exhibitors, speakers and designers from across the globe the festival will showcase illustration, art and design through a programme of events, talks and workshops.

This special issue of Leonardo Electronic Almanac seeks to investigate the long history of generative and algorithmic art, from the historical predecessors mentioned above, to contemporary computational artworks. These stays go along with monthly stipends and can last as long as four months in total. The fellows can work highly focused during this period of time in the Foundation Kuenstlerdorf Schoeppingen (NRW, Germany) studios, apartments and flats on their respective art, book or score projects. The 9th Kaunas Biennial UNITEXT will create conditions for immediate collisions of an artwork and a spectator, allowing the experience of art as a universal text. Curators of the exhibition together with artists will pursue a concept that is new and unfamiliar in a cultural context and will consolidate it by presenting practical examples. We will go into the question of a unitext, which is the latest link in work -> text -> intertext -> hypertext -> unitext semiotic chain of a philosophic / art criticism / artistic field. According to the consistency of this chain the UNITEXT exhibition claims a privilege to present novel ideas about the art at the level of structural and notional revelation. The suggestion is to perceive unitext in this chain as a universal artistic language, which unifies different experiences and concepts.

Nach Abschluss des Stipendiums, an das keine Residenzpflicht gebunden ist, findet eine Präsentation der Ergebnisse statt. Die Stipendien haben keine Altersbegrenzung. Studentinnen, KünstlerInnengruppen sowie männliche Bewerber sind jedoch ausgeschlossen.

Um einen Überblick über die aktuellen Themen und Arbeitsweisen von Medienkünstlerinnen in NRW zu erhalten, werden die Stipendien für die Jahre 2012 und 2013 offen ausgeschrieben.

Das Stipendium richtet sich an Medienkünstlerinnen, die ihren Wohnsitz in Nordrhein-Westfalen haben. Voraussetzung ist, dass sie ein neues Projekt realisieren möchten und sich mit einem entsprechenden Konzept bewerben.

Die Stipendien für Medienkünstlerinnen aus NRW werden seit dem Jahr 2000 vergeben. Die Ausschreibung findet alle zwei Jahre statt. Das erste Stipendium beginnt dieses Jahr am 15. Oktober, das zweite am 15. April des Folgejahres.

Die Stipendiatinnen erhalten jeweils 6 Monate lang eine Unterstützung von monatlich 1.000 EUR sowie eine einmalige Materialpauschale in Höhe von 1.660 EUR: insgesamt also jeweils insgesamt 7.660 EUR. Eine Fachjury entscheidet über die Vergabe des Stipendiums.

Aerowaves performance opportunities in 2013. Submitted works must be more than 15 minutes and less than 40 minutes long, and must have been made in Europe. The deadline is 17 September, and the resulting Priority Companies will be announced at the beginning of November.
One hundred performances across Europe will be offered, including those in the third Spring Forward festival which will take place 3-5 May 2013 at a

As part of its residency program, K3 provides three eight-month residencies per season to choreographers, who are currently at the beginning of the careers, but have already produced some choreographic work of their own. The residencies usually begin around the beginning or middle of August and run until end of March / beginning of April.

The residency program is one-of-a-kind because of its length of eight months and is closely linked to the other courses and professional training programs offered by K3. The residency includes mentoring and dramaturgical, technical and production related support. It moreover links the projects proposed by the three resident choreographers closely to the various other ongoing K3 programs.

ReGrowth International Wood Sculpture Symposium

4. Upon satisfactory completion of the work all participants of the symposium will receive an artists fee of NZ$3000.00 for realising their proposed design.

Prix Ars Electronica Collide@CERN is the new international competition for digital artists to win a residency at CERN the world’s largest particle physics laboratory in Geneva. It is the first prize to be announced as part of the new Collide@CERN artists residency programme initiated by the laboratory.
We are looking for digital artists who will be truly inspired by CERN, showing their wish to engage with the ideas and/or technology of particle physics and with CERN as a place of scientific collaboration, using them as springboards of the imagination which dare to go beyond the paradigm. You might be a choreographer, performer, visual artist, film maker or a composer – what you all have in common is that you use the digital as the means of making your work and/or the way of presenting it.
The winning artist will receive 10,000 Euros prize money. In addition, rent, subsistence and travel are funded from a designated limited fund for both residencies.

Canon Foundation in Europe Research Fellowships

Application procedure for Fellowships
The annual deadline for applications is September 15. Consideration of the applications takes several months. The Selection Committee's final decisions are convened to the applicants before end December of that year. Therefore, the earliest possible date to begin the Fellowship is January 1 of the following year.
Applications should be submitted in full (including the acceptance by the proposed host institute and the research plan) to the Secretariat of the Canon Foundation in Europe well in advance of the deadline.

It is important to note that no correspondence is entered into by the Foundation in regard to decisions taken on any individual application and in view of the large number of applicants, no negative inference should be drawn from the failure of a candidate to secure a Fellowship.

The financial support for Research Fellows ranges from 22,500 Euro to 27,500 Euro per year and pro-rata for different periods.

Annually, the Canon Foundation in Europe grants up to 15 Fellowships to highly qualified European and Japanese researchers. European nationals should have permanent citizenship in the country.
The candidates hold a doctorate or at least a Master’s degree. They are eligible during the ten-year period following the successful completion of their PhD or MA degree. Extensions to the ten-year rule are possible in principle in case of exceptional circumstances which should be explained in the application and supporting documents are required. The European Fellowship holders pursue a period of research in Japan whereas the Japanese Fellows do their research at host institutions in Europe. The Fellowships are awarded for periods of minimum three months and maximum one year. The Fellowships are awarded regardless of discipline and existing employment positions.

The 2013-2014 Berlin Prize Competition

The Academy welcomes emerging as well as established scholars, writers, and professionals who wish to engage in independent study in Berlin. Around two dozen Berlin Prizes are conferred annually.
Fellowships are typically awarded for an academic semester or, in some cases, for an entire academic year. Only the Bosch Fellowships in Public Policy may be for shorter stays of six to eight weeks. Fellowship benefits include round-trip airfare, housing at the Academy, partial board, and a stipend of $5,000 per month. The Academy’s furnished apartments at the Hans Arnhold Center are suitable for individuals and couples; accommodations are available for families with children at the Hans Arnhold Center or at nearby apartments. All fellows are expected to reside at the Hans Arnhold Center during the entire term of the award.
Fellowships are restricted to candidates based permanently in the US.

This notice of call for proposals is based on Decision No 1041/2009/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 October 2009 establishing an audiovisual cooperation programme with professionals from third countries (MEDIA Mundus 2011-2013).

Passion for Freedom Festival

Passion for Freedom is non partisan and voluntary organisation gathering professionals working in arts and media. As individual activists we responded to Maryam Namazie’s “One Law for All” campaign which exposes the discriminatory nature of Sharia tribunals in the UK. As a result the first edition of non-profit London Festival took place in 2009. The annual celebration of Freedom takes place in a spacious, contemporary gallery next to Tate Modern. Last year’s edition has showcased artists from 12 different countries carefully selected from hundreds of applications.

Passion for Freedom gives unique opportunity for artists to openly debate and exercise the freedom of speech.

Global Enviro-Changes is a call for works open to artists of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds interested in making contributions through visual artistic creations mainly by drawing, painting or digital art. All works must be original creations and must be new art works. The project is part of ArtXchanges-Global which is a platform for artistic exchanges and collaboration by Cameroonian art museum Mus'Art Gallery. The artworks should reflect current environmental changes as seen through the eyes of an artist; how it affects humanity and mother earth. The works should be able to either showcase the good-sides or devastating nature on one side and how man is struggling to address environmental changes today. Global Enviro-Changes will be used by the museum in creating awareness on current environmental changes showcasing works by artists from all over the world.

The TIRANA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (TIFF)

This tenth edition of TIFF brings several important changes to its previous years. For the fourth time, TIFF announces a feature film competition along with its prestigious shorts program. TIFF also extends:
-its program to ten days, November 23 to December 2 in order to encompass not only the competing shorts and features but to allow for retrospectives, seminars, classes, press events and special presentations at theatres all over the Albanian capital.
-it is the intention of TIFF to bring filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts from all around the world to Tirana, Albania in the hopes of fostering future co-operation in this extraordinarily scenic area.

Divina Sonus Ruris: Open call for sound art residencies until September 30th

Nodar Rural Art Lab is program of in-situ creative labs in sound art developed in connection with landscapes and communities of the Gralheira Mountain Range, namely the rural community of Nodar, a small village in the center of Portugal.
Disciplines and media: Sound art, improvised music, electroacoustic composition, sound sculptures, intermedia installation, etc.
Expenses paid by artists:
Artists will only have to pay their trip to/from the region. The organization always tries to get some aid from the local institutions of the artists’ countries.
Artists will be provided with housing, audio and video equipment, food and a social space for the artists-in-residence to network with other artists and local publics. Other trips to local spots of interest or to the performance spaces are also supported.

PAPERGIRL TORONTO Open Calls

The project aims at a bike-friendly and community oriented interaction and local artists also get to exhibit and distribute their work for free. In return Torontonians become more aware of local artists and become recipients of artist’s creative expressions. When all the copies being distributed have run out the papergirls will return the exhibition area and the event will end the next morning in parallel to the closure of all other Nuit Blanche activities. It will have been a one night recreation of a project that has taken place many times across the world and aims to underline the tradition established by Nuit Blanche in Toronto for free art, interaction between various communities and the promotion of local young visual artists who wish to have their works seen.

Papergirl is a mail-art and delivery systems art project that is participatory, analogue, non-commercial, and impulsive. Papergirl project was founded by Aisha Ronniger from Berlin, in 2006. In Search of the Former East in the Former West

In the past two decades, artists from Eastern Europe and Russia have
been discovered and rediscovered in the West many times over. To this
date, there have been over 25 major group exhibitions mounted on the
topic of art from these regions before 1989, while many more books,
articles, reviews have been published and significant conferences
organized. Moreover, artists from these regions have entered in the
collections of major museums in the West. From Berlin to Chicago, from
Paris to New York, there seems to be a boundless interest on the part
of scholars working in the Western cannon of art history to present
eastern art production before the fall of the Iron Curtain - and thus
come to terms with their former Other. By now, this series of grand,
ambitious projects amounts to more than just a way for the West to
satisfy the need for covering this so-called "uncharted territory" or
the desire for the new in contemporary art...

Pro Artibus AiR program

The aim of the new Pro Artibus AiR program is to creatively and critically explore and analyze the use of the shared public room, with the own place of operations Ekenäs in Raseborg as the starting point. Public art projects that have been implemented in this small and picturesque Finland-Swedish town have engaged the townspeople during the recent years. Now the Pro Artibus Foundation wishes, through art productions with Nordic artists in cooperation with local actors and the local population, to deepen the discussion on contemporary art in the public room. The residence program is targeted at well established Nordic artists and curators who show an interest of carrying out place-specific art projects in a public environment.

The planning of the residence program is of a long-term character and the first artists in residence will participate in the definition of the structure and formulation of the program. The Pro Artibus AiR program accepts 4-5 artists in residence in 2013. The residence period lasts 2-3 months.
The Pro Artibus Foundation offers the artists in residence a large furnished apartment at the campus of the Novia University of Applied Sciences in Ekenäs. A daily subsistence allowance of 36 EUR for 5 days/week is paid for the residence period and the trip to Ekenäs is compensated according to the most inexpensive form of transport. In addition to this the foundation offers a small production budget.

What are the alternatives to an increasingly centralized and privatized internet landscape as cultivated by Google and Facebook? The conference „Digital Backyards“ (Oct. 18-20th) looks for answers. It is partitioned into a semi-open „Networking Lounge“ and „Public Talks“ that are accessible to a broad audience.

The barcamp-style „Networking Lounge“ takes place on October 18th and 19th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Journalists, activists, bloggers, researchers, entrepreneurs, cultural workers and programmers define their own issues and questions.

Dedicated to the emergence of the newest forms of contemporary art as it is, the Palais de Tokyo sees participating in the renewal of the ecosystem of art as part of its remit. Thus in the summer of 2013 the Palais de Tokyo is entrusting its entire program schedule to young curators. Selected on the basis of the proposals they submit, the winners will bear witness to the perpetual reinvention of the issues involved in curating an exhibition, their scouting talent, and their ability to dream up new ways of relating to art. This event is likewise intended to demonstrate the dynamism of Paris and the surrounding area as part of a joint initiative involving a great many partners and institutions.
Each winner will be assigned a curator as their main contact at the Palais de Tokyo and will be supported by the production service throughout the implementation of the project and will receive a sum of 1500 euros as a fee.
