VIDA 15.0 Art and Artificial Life International Awards
Fundación Telefónica announces the VIDA 15.0 Art & Artificial Life International Competition, which for the last fifteen years has awarded prizes for artistic projects using technological mediums offering innovative approaches to research into artificial life.
In this category VIDA 15.0 will award prizes to artistic ALife projects developed after 2011. The sum of 40,000 Euros will be shared between the projects selected by the jury: First Prize: 18,000 Euros, Second Prize: 14,000 Euros, and Third Prize: 8,000 Euros.
In addition seven honourable mentions will be awarded. Among them we present the People’s Choice Award which is endowed with a cash prize for the first time of 2.500€.

The unique SFAI environment allows residents to be as interactive or private as they wish. There are no requirements on the work produced during their time at SFAI.

In order to match the Programme standards, applicants have to submit a solid and innovative research proposal, to demonstrate the ability to forge beyond disciplinary specialisation, to show an international commitment as well as quality publications in high-impact venues.
For the 2014-2015 academic year, EURIAS offers 39 fellowships (20 junior and 19 senior positions).
All IAS have agreed on common standards, including the provision of a living allowance (in the range of € 26,000 for a junior fellow and € 38,000 for a senior fellow), accommodation (or a mobility allowance), a research budget, plus coverage of travel expenses.

Artistic practices and creativity are directly and closely linked to mobility. A great part of the art and architecture that we know would not have existed if it weren’t for the urge to travel, to discover, for the need to go beyond limits - territorial and intellectual - of the known.

For the publication of issue #55, the digital journal InterArtive will publish a special issue dedicated to diverse aspects of the current discussion about Art & Mobility. We invite theorists, critics, curators and artists who work on the subject to participate.
Artistic practices and creativity are directly and closely linked to mobility. A great part of the art and architecture that we know would not have existed if it weren’t for the urge to travel, to discover, for the need to go beyond limits - territorial and intellectual - of the known.
To reflect on mobility today means to widen the perspective, to go beyond the concepts of travel, discovery and displacement; it calls for an analysis of the social, political, economic and cultural phenomena linked to it.
