TRUCK Contemporary Art in Calgary Summer Residency Program

In cooperation with the City of Calgary’s newly developed Watermarks project, TRUCK Contemporary Art in Calgary is seeking three artists or artist collectives to participate in 3 intensive 3 week long residencies along the Bow River during the months of July, August, and September 2010. International or Canadian artists of all disciplines are encouraged to propose new projects to be developed over the course of the residency period.
An exhibition, performance, or presentation of the work will culminate each residency.Projects submitted for the residencies should focus on an engagement with the history, geography, and social and environmental significance of the Bow River.Production budgets, accommodations, travel costs and CARFAC fees will be paid to all participating artists.

The Camargo Foundation Academic and Artistic Fellowships

The Camargo Foundation is now accepting applications from composers, writers, and visual artists pursuing specific projects. The interdisciplinary residency program is intended to give Fellows the time and space they need to realise their projects. The Foundation’s hillside campus overlooks the Mediterranean Sea in Cassis, France; it includes fully furnished apartments, a reference library, and art/music studios. Fellows are provided with self-catering accommodation on campus. A stipend of $1,500 is also available. Fellowships are from mid-September to mid-December, or mid-January to mid-April.

Qualified candidates from all countries and nationalities are encouraged to apply; proficiency in English is a requirement. The application deadline is January 12, 2010.

Cittadellarte - Fondazione Pistoletto: UNIDEE in Residence 2010

Eligibility:
A maximum of 14 to 16 places are available each year. Artists, designers, cultural actors, architects and researchers who fit the profile are welcome to apply. The basic prerequisite is a degree at university level, or to be in the process of graduating. If the applicant does not have a university degree, proof of equivalent ability must be provided through his or her artistic career. The average participant age ranges from 24 to 40. The official language of the residency is English, and a good level of proficiency in the language is required.

Art Factory Bialystok

Jan. 16, 2010 - deadline for summer 2010 residence for fine artists - July-August 2010.

4-6 visiting artists spend 8 weeks working in close contact with cultural organizations in Białystok, namely the Asenał Gallery.

Outside of ordinary constraints such as day jobs, commissions and exhibition deadlines, the residency offers artists the time, space, and resources to experiment with their work and try new approaches. Art Factory Białystok provides artists with an environment that encourages the exchange of ideas and often instigates experimentation with new concepts and materials. The residency is non-prescriptive and process-based, allowing artists to develop projects in response to their new environment. Collaborative projects are strongly encouraged.

The participating artists will be chosen at the beginning of 2010 from an open call. The criteria for picking artists will be: 1) artistic merit, 2) letter of intent.

Artists from all art branches may apply to KulttuuriKauppila, though we concentrate on fine arts, community arts and applied arts. The duration of the stay varies between two and four months. We hope that the applicants send also their cv, some material of the previous artworks or a portfolio and a working plan for the visit. In the case of need to use special equipment please include information on that to the application. If the applicant is interested in a bigger exhibition in the region, please inform this in the application, too.

Please notice that the rent of the residence is 400 € per month.

Sølyst Artist in Residence Center, Denmark

In order to apply for a residency at SAIR you must be a professional working artist, curator or artist group. The stay will then be one or two months between April - October of the year after the deadline.

The visiting artists will be offered free accommodation and a studio at the Sølyst Castle, plus free access to the workshops and a monthly fee of 1,342 euro. A contribution is expected in form of work or it can be a talk, a show or a workshop.

orkshire Artspace in 2011 is hosting their first residency in the Parson Cross neighbourhood of Sheffield. This is in partnership with SOAR, a local area regeneration organisation who have successfully secured funding to build a mixed use development of office and light industrial spaces which will include 10 studio units managed by Yorkshire Artspace.

A fee of £5000 is offered and have an additional materials and travel/accommodation budget. They expect the artist to offer some time and support to the Starter Studio artists which might be through skills sharing, 1-2-1 mentoring or other similar exchange appropriate to practice.

Visual artists, dancers and choreographers who are Commonwealth citizens are invited to apply for the 2011 Commonwealth Connections international arts residencies. The residencies must be taken in another Commonwealth country.

Seven winning applicants will receive awards of up to £8,000 to develop their art in another Commonwealth country.
