New P.A.I.R. Call for artist/researcher, spring 2011
•Application Deadline
01.02.2011
The P.A.I.R. is heading for its third year. The exploration of the landscape in the northern provinces of the Netherlands has grown into a unique experience, attracting attention from abroad. The participating artists have produced good work and have succeeded in establishing relationships with local inhabitants. Their stay in the P.A.I.R. has often led to other projects. After the themes Landscape & Memory and Chorography, next year’s theme will be Location & Knowledge, for an even more refined exploration of the landscape.
This call for our site-specific project in and about Sleen is specifically addressed to artists with a leaning towards research and/or artistically inclined researchers. We are looking for an artist/researcher for whom the ‘hardware’ and the ‘software’ of Sleen and its surroundings is interconnected.
P.A.I.R. pays the following expenses
Living and work: €2000,-
Travel and material: max. € 1000,-

Collaborative Research Residency hosted by Baltic Art Center, The Factory of Art and Design (FFKD) and Hordaland Art Centre
•Application Deadline
01.02.2011
BAC, Baltic Art Center in Visby, Sweden; The Factory of Art and Design (FFKD) in Copenhagen, Denmark and Hordaland Art Centre in Bergen, Norway jointly invite professionals within the field of visual art to apply to our new Collaborative Research Residency.
The Collaborative Research Residency offers one month residencies spring 2011 for research groups of three collaborators where at least one has a contemporary visual arts background (artist/curator/art critic). The programme encourages new relationships and should be seen as a chance to try out different types of collaborations, which may have an inter-disciplinary character. We welcome applications from research groups of three people, where a minimum of two people are based in or coming from the Nordic and Baltic countries.
This residency programme is a pilot project, and differs from our other residency programmes in two ways: it focuses on collaborative rather than individual practice, and it emphasises the research phase.
http://www.crresidency.net/
The application should outline the initial research idea, how you imagine the collaborative research process, as well as a clear motivation for why you wish to collaborate and how you see that your respective practices can enrich each other.
In 2011 we offer residencies to three groups of three people each to stay for one month in one of the three host institutions. A stipend of €1400 per month for each person, travel costs up to € 1000 for the group, accommodation and a studio or office facility will be provided. €500 will be allocated to each collaborating unit for expenses associated to their research.

BADGAST 2012
•Application Deadline
01.12.2011
BADGAST is a research based artist in residency at the coast of The Hague/Scheveningen where Satellietgroep invites artistst and scientists to develop and present research that articulates a cultural, innovative and sustainable significance of the sea and its coasts. Artists, designers, (landscape) architects and scientists can apply for a residency period of max 6 weeks in 2012 by sending a resume, earlier works, motivation, proposal for the workperiod and a prefered period.
For submission guidlines:
http://www.satellietgroep.nl/apply_for_badgast_2012/1
Satellietgroep is based since 2006 in The Hague, The Netherlands, a country with a strong historic art and innovative relationship with the sea. Satellietgroep has an embedded art and culture approach to researching the way the sea and waterways influences cities and people. We aim to research the pressure on public, social and cultural use on the waterfronts and develop new concepts and strategies focused on a new approach of future sea and coastal urban areas.
Arts and science can express the spatial and social qualities - as well as the problems - of our coastal areas, and make them engagingly accessible to the public. These works can transform a destination normally marked by consumption and recreation into a platform for critical communication and serious reflection.

Open call: culturia aritst in residence program based in Berlin
•Application Deadline
05.12.2011
idea and program
culturia is a twofold: an art residency and a non-material collection. Strategically declining in its approach to pure studio practice, culturia invites artists to present projects in close relation between process and presentation.
The main point of the program is to enhance the internal development of the artist during the short-term residency, which can be more valuable than a production of new objects. Following this vision culturia has opened, parallel to the realization of the artist’s proposal, a construction of a document that seeks for the understanding of an ideal point of view on art. Here, the approach and medium are chosen by the artist as long as the statement remains “visible” to others.
open call for artists and researchers
deadline: 5th December 2011
residency period: 1st February– 31st April 2012
culturia is a residency program based in Berlin
culturia has been building its networks since 2005 and has progressively changed from a residency using temporary spaces in Berlin to develop into an experimental place where the practice of exploring artistic process became the concept.
