"UNIVERSITAS - Light-Orbiter
diameter 2,20 m (7,35 ft), 40 solar cells, created 2007, realized 2009
A blue ring turns slowly in space. With changing beam of light flares its iridescent surface from silicon crystals. The light-weight construction embodies pure function and associates airship structures and outer space habitats. Noiseless weightlessness dominate the scope. The light orbiter decelerate the speed of light into a contemplative orbit and transfers it as positive load to the viewer."

"The Augmented Flaws questions different aspects of current social and economic power strategies in global society. Using the narrative structure of postcolonial theory, the curator Shaheen Merali analyses actual modes of representation and image making in a global context of economic migration, forced labour and the marketing of violence and war. For him, these and other so-called augmented flaws result in an actual worsening of human relationships, leading him to doubt „Do we really care enough to question any longer or do we casually adjust within the re-fashioned times, where even potent human tragedies are often reduced to slogans on T-Shirts worn with Birkenstocks“."

‘‘...My work is mostly based on my subconsciousness, which means I try to let my images come into being while I'm already drawing. I'm searching for a kind of abstraction and stillness in my work. I like using exaggerated perspectives and weird combinations, because I like the estranged feeling these things bring about.
I'm fascinated by the forms of nature, especially animals, but also by architecture, children's stories and mythes. In my head I blend everything together to find new interpretations and to create my own world, in which I think is still a lot to discover.’’

Threepenny Opera, written in 1928 by Bertolt Brecht, in collaboration
with Elisabeth Hauptmann and Kurt Weill. Based on Brecht's assertion
that 'a criminal is a bourgeois and a bourgeois is a criminal,' the
play set out to revolutionise theatre as both an artistic form and a

This project sets off to visit and to receive reciprocal visits in spite of the hostility of these states towards each other, to critically break down the physical, political and intellectual obstacles created by the borders. In this respect, a shared cultural value that makes borders meaningless, the tradition of reciprocal visit forms the basis of our project..."

20 years after the political moment 1989 a group of international artists meet and construct a common contemporary art project: Beneath the Remains – translations of estrangement and the politics of survival.
But their assembly does not aim to achieve another (sad) celebration. Its purpose is to recuperate and concatenate upon a Zeitgeist of political mistrust, uneasiness and active disobedience which stems out from the popular culture milieus of the late 80’s and which still survives in the back of our consciences ...

Artists (considered): msk7, Chan-Kyong Park, Michael Hieslmair/Marusa, Sagadin/Michael Zinganel, Yeondoo Jung u.a.
Germany and Korea have in common not just the experience of having been divided countries but also a range of diverse and multilayered migration histories.
The conventional picture of the labour migration is characterized by economically motivated movement of people from the poor south to the rich north. The exhibition adds a focus on the hitherto largely neglected aspect of politically motivated migration between west and east. At the same time however, the intention is to displace these axes. The existing pictures are questioned from a south-west north-east perspective and new horizons opened up. For trans-national migration during the cold war also involved the simultaneous possibility of a trans-systemic migration.
