Primal Noise
audio – visual performance
Luka Dekleva & Cameron Bobro
The concept of this project is grown from deliberately limited expressive possibilities of sound and vision. In execution, the authors establish boundaries on the possibilities of expression at narrow regions in the fields of all potential sonic and visual spectra. Working within such limited spectra has the curious effect of both contracting and expanding the scope of expression within the work. Every musical gesture finds itself manifested in vision, and vice versa.

Neukölln Fever
Neukölln is increasingly known to have the most exciting arts scene in the city - and for one night only galleries, artist’s homes, studios and bars in Neukölln throw open their doors for NACHTUNDNEBEL: the Berlin festival that’s become an international insider-tip.
Experience a special Neukölln mixture of multi-disciplinary arts up close: painting, sculpture, music, theatre, film video and more. High and low culture side by side in reclaimed buildings like former butchers or ex-brothels.

Art-hopping is made easy with complimentary taxi shuttles throughout the evening (19-24 hrs)

Visitors from across Berlin and the world can enjoy being whisked from one art venue to the next in the luxury of a spaciously appointed vehicle.
This year the Neukölln night of the arts is once again anticipating thousands of visitors, and most events are free. Download the full program at www.nachtundnebel.info

“Business (after London)“ sprang from the exhibition “Sudden White (after London)”
curated by Mark Beasley (Creative Time NY) at the Royal Academy of Arts London.
Against the background of British writer Richard Jefferies' science-fiction novel “After
London”, the exhibition picked apocalyptic situations as its central topic. The
exhibition had reflected the current mood in London.

The footage of the financial district were shot during the artist's work-trip to London.
In a book shop she discovered "The Return of Depression Economics" by economic
Nobel laureate Paul Krugmann, who predicted the crash of the financial sector as
early as 2001. "Business (after London)“ uses quotations by Paul Krugman and other
experts showing a personal and familiar involvement."

What Keeps Mankind Alive?

The 11th International İstanbul Biennial takes its title from the
song 'Denn wovon lebt der Mensch?', translated into English as 'What
Keeps Mankind Alive?'. The song closes the second act of the play The
Threepenny Opera, written in 1928 by Bertolt Brecht, in collaboration
with Elisabeth Hauptmann and Kurt Weill. Based on Brecht's assertion
that 'a criminal is a bourgeois and a bourgeois is a criminal,' the
play set out to revolutionise theatre as both an artistic form and a
tool for social and political change...

This project sets off to visit and to receive reciprocal visits in spite of the hostility of these states towards each other, to critically break down the physical, political and intellectual obstacles created by the borders. In this respect, a shared cultural value that makes borders meaningless, the tradition of reciprocal visit forms the basis of our project..."

20 years after the political moment 1989 a group of international artists meet and construct a common contemporary art project: Beneath the Remains – translations of estrangement and the politics of survival.
But their assembly does not aim to achieve another (sad) celebration. Its purpose is to recuperate and concatenate upon a Zeitgeist of political mistrust, uneasiness and active disobedience which stems out from the popular culture milieus of the late 80’s and which still survives in the back of our consciences ...

Peter v. Malotki zeigt Ölbilder deren Kompositionen, an Landschaften erinnern, an geheimnisvolle Orte, an feindliche Territorien, an Randzonen trauriger Schönheit.

Artists (considered): msk7, Chan-Kyong Park, Michael Hieslmair/Marusa, Sagadin/Michael Zinganel, Yeondoo Jung u.a.
Germany and Korea have in common not just the experience of having been divided countries but also a range of diverse and multilayered migration histories.
The conventional picture of the labour migration is characterized by economically motivated movement of people from the poor south to the rich north. The exhibition adds a focus on the hitherto largely neglected aspect of politically motivated migration between west and east. At the same time however, the intention is to displace these axes. The existing pictures are questioned from a south-west north-east perspective and new horizons opened up. For trans-national migration during the cold war also involved the simultaneous possibility of a trans-systemic migration.

Aiko Okamoto - Installation

"You open the door, enter into the garden. All is calm, all is beautiful. But suddenly the world begins to melt, like a drop of color in water, it turns, it blends, and is still again, but something is a little different than before. Paintings and collages by the Japanese artist Kaori Nakajima seem to represent a happy ordinary world, but when you look at them longer, you fall into an intermediate gap between reality and illusion, life and death. Similarly, the video works by Aiko Okamoto convey visions between the now, the past and the boundless future. Acting as a VJ she plays with the mixing of this imagery.
The work being shown, having been created especially for the exhibition, smudges the lines of perception and invites the viewer to walk in-between."

Öffnungszeiten täglich, 11 bis 18 Uhr

Berlin

Ends 29.11.2009

Germany - Cottbus

Ends 22.10.2010

From now on new work of Roland Fuhrmann can be visited, which is permanently installed in the entrance hall of the main building of the Brandenburgian Technical University of Cottbus (art-and-construction). It is open week-daily and around the clock (night doormen).

"UNIVERSITAS - Light-Orbiter
diameter 2,20 m (7,35 ft), 40 solar cells, created 2007, realized 2009
A blue ring turns slowly in space. With changing beam of light flares its iridescent surface from silicon crystals. The light-weight construction embodies pure function and associates airship structures and outer space habitats. Noiseless weightlessness dominate the scope. The light orbiter decelerate the speed of light into a contemplative orbit and transfers it as positive load to the viewer."
