Wirtschaftshistoriker unterscheiden zwischen antiken und modernen Auffassungen des Wirtschaftens. "This international conference marks the conclusion of a research project on
the performative and synaesthetic effects of different cinematic elements
(space, color, and kinetics/motorics). A revaluation of montage emerged as
a final, central concern. If montage is conceptualized as synchronization,
the methods and techniques of producing coherence come to the fore. How
are the individual media levels synchronized? What are the synaesthetic
effects of such a synchronization? This conference on »Synchronizing the
Arts« poses these questions in regards to diverse aesthetic fields, such
as cinema, music, literature, digital video, and DJ culture."

Dotfest, der als Kurator die diesjährige Februar Lounge wie kein Anderer prägte, zeigt persönlich eine Auswahl von Regisseuren die ihm im Lauf der Jahre besonders ans Herz gewachsen sind.
André Werner wird diese Sammlung mit Schätzen aus dem Archiv von Alexei Dmitriev erweitern.
Ein Abend cineastischer Kleinode.
Im Anschluss gibt es ein audiovisuelles Konzert von Bedroom Bear,
dem Solo-projekt von Sergei Dmitriev. Melodischer Psych-Folk, auf russischer Gerätschaft gespielt, erschafft die Stimmung
der Karelischen Wälder.

"Read metaphorically, “drizzle” could refer to a condition in which our perceptions are fragmentary at best, interfering with our ability to definitively categorize common, everyday perceptions. Our view of the familiar is obstructed, muddled, undermined, engulfed by unfamiliar experiences. Between unmediated experience, emotional entanglement and unexpected memories, new associative narratives emerge. Something is shifted, brought to light in a different way and thereby enriched with projections and fantasies. A sphere is opened up in which reality and fiction—consciously or unconsciously—are mysteriously interwoven."

Die künstlerische Plattform OFF FENCE setzt sich mit dem kulturellen Overflow auseinander, beleuchtet Überschneidungen und Spannungen in der Grenzregion zwischen Südkalifornien und Nordwest-Mexiko. Michelle Chong und Luis G. Hernandez Arbeiten untersuchen die ethnische Identität aus einer linguistischen Perspektive. The third exhibition at MMX will run from May 1-May 28 and will be ever changing and evolving throughout the duration of the show.
The third show at MMX expands out of the ground floor rooms and into the garden and back courtyard. Tobias Sternberg from Sweden is bringing back the dead with his life size sculptures of extinct animals. The garden at MMX will be transforming over the next months with the work of Mr. Sternberg’s interactive piece Schadensorge and also by Canadian Cedric Bomford. Bomford will be building one of his fantastical constructions that will snake across the front of the garden.
Inside, Veronika Schumacher continues to push the boundaries of what she started in Show II, her decadent and bipolar wallpaper will engulf the entire room this time. David Krepfle’s sculptures are dually humorous and mischievous as their visual color play bounces around the room. Screening program III is curated by the MMX directors.

FEINKOST is pleased to present its second solo exhibition of Berlin-based artist Ignacio Uriarte. Entitled “Typologies”, the exhibition is a meditation on parameters, taxonomies and predestinations available within materials.
“Typologies” presents a continuation of Ignacio Uriarte’s research and his use of the office place as a total medium. Complete with all its textures, materials, behaviors and structures the artist filters the data of the workstation through an aesthetic language of art history referencing moments such as minimalism, conceptual art, hard-edge abstraction, and land art. Using this bi-lingual approach Uriarte analogizes actions and processes legible to anyone who has worked in a cubicle or walked through the galleries of MoMA.

Steht die Bezeichnung des „weißen Würfels“ sonst für weitgehend neutrale, unauffällige Ausstellungsräume, deren Architektur sich den Exponaten möglichst unterordnet, so ist dieses Verhältnis im Schaufenster an der Oranienstrasse grundlegend verschieden: Das Fenster fungiert nicht nur als Ausstellungsfläche, sondern macht eben den Akt des Ausstellens zum Thema – es wird, wie Mel Bochner im Zusammenhang mit seinem Film „New York Windows“ (1966) sagte, zur „Metapher für Selbstreflexivität“. Eine selbstreflexive Haltung prägt auch die Arbeiten von Miriam Böhm.

"UNIVERSITAS - Light-Orbiter
diameter 2,20 m (7,35 ft), 40 solar cells, created 2007, realized 2009
A blue ring turns slowly in space. With changing beam of light flares its iridescent surface from silicon crystals. The light-weight construction embodies pure function and associates airship structures and outer space habitats. Noiseless weightlessness dominate the scope. The light orbiter decelerate the speed of light into a contemplative orbit and transfers it as positive load to the viewer."
