Amongst newer works, the exhibition entitled Measurement and Division will feature documentation of three ground-breaking performances, amongst them Brisley's performance during Documenta VI, which has never been shown in Germany.
Brisley, born 1933, developed a radical artistic practice that has played a fundamental part in the development of installation and performance art. He has been at the forefront of experimentation and political debate within the visual arts across a wide range of media with an enduring influence on many of the present generation of artists. At the centre of Brisley’s diverse practice lies his exploration of the essential qualities of what it means to be human. He has challenged the human body in physical, psychological and emotional ways, explicitly pointing to extremes and limitations of human endurance as metaphors for social systems, injustice and control.

Wir gehen schnorcheln und essen aber wollen am Geld sparen. Global heisst im Bioladen einzukaufen und bei Aldi den Wein. Wir lieben uns und es ist viel zu dunkel. Global heisst sich politisch korrekt zu äussern, in Gesprächen zuhause und noch mehr, wenn der Regen kommt und geht. Neben mir ist eine grüne Blechwand, und was mir scheint wie ein Schutz nach aussen, ein Husten von dahinter verrät: Hier ist aussen, dort ist drinnen!

Video art has always been a matter of crossing of ideas. An artist explores social and political realities, poetic worlds, specific territories.... and he gives his point of view on it. What is a point a view ? Not at all an opinion. Indeed, the artist is not a journalist, neither a sociologist.
The point of view creates an interval between the artist and what he is filming. Within this inbetween gap, the possible of a language, the cinematic-writing, a thought in action will find their way.
The program we present invites the spectator to travel thanks to different points of view from Kirghizstan, Palestine, England or France... and to explore our contemporary world.

Der Tod und das Mädchen ist ein Sujet, das seit Generationen immer wieder in der Kunst, Literatur und der Musik auftaucht. Die Herangehensweise, oder der Aspekt der dabei in den Vordergrund gestellt wird, variiert jedoch je nach der Fokussierung und auch entsprechend dem gesellschaftlichen Umfeld. Die Menschen werden immer älter – gleichzeitig gilt Jugend oder Jugendlichkeit als Wert, den es unbedingt zu erhalten gilt. Nicht erst seit Photoshop schummeln die Menschen: Schon in der Antike verschönerte man Porträts, indem man Falten wegretuschierte und Muskeln aufpumpte. Alt werden wollen alle; alt sein will keiner.
Neunplus widmet sich nun in einer Gruppenausstellung den Gegensatzpaaren Jugend versus Alter, Impulsivität versus Abgeklärtheit, neues Leben versus Tod, yin versus yang. Es geht um nichts weniger als die großen, existentiellen Fragen des Lebens, um alles oder nichts, denn: „es ist alles lächerlich, wenn man an den Tod denkt“ (Thomas Bernhard).

Seit 2008 arbeitet die Künstlerin Doris Koch an der Konzeption eines komplexen Finanzsystem. Als zentrale Elemente hat sie ihre seit 1998 laufenden Work in Progress "Kochscheine" und "Indizien" neben den "Projekten" in das System integriert. Diese "zuTATen" des Systems entwickeln, je nachdem wie "Anteil(s)nehmer/innen" handeln, unterschiedliche Wechselwirkungen. Handeln die Anteil(s)nehmer/innen nicht oder in die falsche Richtung, dann gibt es eine Krise. Doch sind den Anteil(s)nehmer/innen in jedem Fall verschiedene Genüsse garantiert. Im Menü zur Ausstellung bekommen Sie genussvoll Ahnungen davon.

Seit 2008 arbeitet die Künstlerin Doris Koch an der Konzeption eines komplexen Finanzsystem. Als zentrale Elemente hat sie ihre seit 1998 laufenden Work in Progress "Kochscheine" und "Indizien" neben den "Projekten" in das System integriert. Diese "zuTATen" des Systems entwickeln, je nachdem wie "Anteil(s)nehmer/innen" handeln, unterschiedliche Wechselwirkungen. Handeln die Anteil(s)nehmer/innen nicht oder in die falsche Richtung, dann gibt es eine Krise. Doch sind den Anteil(s)nehmer/innen in jedem Fall verschiedene Genüsse garantiert. Im Menü zur Ausstellung bekommen Sie genussvoll Ahnungen davon.

They paint, draw, sew, perform, play music and work with wood. The nine artists behind the exhibition House in my Head have chosen different materials and a different approach to their working processes than artists of the previous generation. They represent a tendency which deals with the personal narrative, the private sphere, the handmade, and the influence of signature; a tendency which left its mark on art of the 00's.

A blue ring turns slowly in space. With changing beam of light flares its iridescent surface from silicon crystals. The light-weight construction embodies pure function and associates airship structures and outer space habitats. Noiseless weightlessness dominate the scope. The light orbiter decelerate the speed of light into a contemplative orbit and transfers it as positive load to the viewer."
