This year the festival will take place in the old Bötzow-Brauerei. On ca. 800 qm we will find enough space for our three sections: film, lectures and exhibition. From June, 3rd to June, 5th we invite all people who are interested in film and art to create a multifaced festival weekend.
Since 2000 EMERGEANDSEE media arts festival has been playing the role of an independent event fully organised by students. It shows audio visual works from all over the world. In interaction with short film contest, audiovisual exhibition and lectures we combine artwork and opinions. In addition to this, there will be a youth project where adolescents can present their own version of the topic in short, creative contributions.
This year we will focus on the topic "En Détail" and the small but likewise significant elements of our daily perception. Of 649 submissions from 51 different countries, 302 were from Germany amongst others from USA, GB, France, Spain and Romania.

Zwanzig spektakuläre Röntgenbilder von Skulpturen verschiedener Materialien aus Museen in Deutschland und den USA sind ab 15. April 2011 in der neuen Sonderausstellung
"Zwillingsbilder. Röntgenfotografien von Skulpturen"
im Präparatesaal des Berliner Medizinhistorischen Museums der Charité zu sehen. Der Röntgenblick, hier zugleich diagnostisch, forensisch und ästhetisch, "verlebendigt" die Skulpturen und rückt sie in ein einzigartiges künstlerisch-medizinisches Spannungsfeld zu den Präparaten.
Die Sonderausstellung von Uta Kornmeier findet in Kooperation mit dem Zentrum für Literatur- und Kulturforschung Berlin statt. Als Teil der Serie von "Interventionen" in die Dauerausstellung des Museums ist sie bis 05. Juni 2011 zu sehen.

Doris Koch will discuss and exchange her participatory art practice and experiences with artists, local governments and other peoples in Istanbul.
She is on the process of a new project. This is in the beginning connected with an artistic research. The subject inwhich she is interested is about the relationship between villagers (who just arrived at Istanbul?) and urban dwellers (who are the cultural elite?) There is a gap not only in Istanbul but also elsewhere.
On one hand she has the possibility to show and discuss her special work of artistic research with an participatory impact – on the other she will show in real time principles of her work in showing the working process of the development of a new project. The invitation enables her to do a research in Istanbul. This research is a condition for evolving a project that arises out of spatial, social and cultural aspects of the situation.

Cornelia Gutsche (Meisterschülerin von Prof. Goltzsche/ Kunsthochschule Berlin) arbeitet additiv. Puppenspieler, Engel, Zugvögel, Pflanzen und diverse Tiere erscheinen auf Leinwand und Papier. Die Bildfläche ist Bühne für Dialoge über das Leben mit all seinen Freuden und Schrecken. Ausgangspunkt für ihre Arbeiten, die sich inzwischen auf Objekte und Performances erweitern, bildet die Zeichnung.
So sucht Cornelia Gutsche die Verbindung mit anderen Genres und Künstlern, möchte vermitteln und austauschen und lädt Anna Berndtson und Wulff Politz zur Auseinandersetzung ein.

In between: Bilder, kulturelle Codes und Disziplinen, Verbales und Nonverbales - das Projekt "Pattern & Signs" bewegt sich zwischen vielen Koordinaten. Elf internationale Künstlerinnen und Künstler sind eingeladen, sich gemeinsam mit Schülerinnen und Schülern des Menzel-Gymnasiums zum Thema Muster und Zeichen auseinanderzusetzen und gleichzeitig ihre Arbeiten in einer umfangreichen Ausstellung zur Diskussion zu stellen. In dieser intensiven Zusammenarbeit zwischen SchülerInnen und KünstlerInnen für Pattern & Signs konzentriert sich die langjährige und fruchtbare Kooperation zwischen der Menzel-Schule und dem Kunstverein Tiergarten auf ein prominentes Projekt.
