"Sculpture. Work. Space. – Aspects of Sculptural Art", a comprehensive display, showing concepts of 21st century sculpture. Stimulating pieces of art are on view for the interested public, friends of the arts and artists themselves.
The viewer will witness a successful experiment: in keeping with the motto "stand up for sculpture", sculpture network encourages an exchange of ideas among like-minded people and enthuses with professional expertise through its broad program agenda.
This group exhibition organised by members in Berlin, effectively demonstrates how collaboration can lead to success. With sculpture network’s backup, a temporary alliance of regional artists was established to organise this exhibition, employing shared experience and know-how.
Inspired by the group, it is not only artwork that has emerged but also new and exciting contacts with various experts in the field of three-dimensional art. Under the alert and competent eye of curator, Susanne Greinke...

GROWING IN LIGHTNESS _ SABRINA CASADEI and GIULIO ZANET
Kaleidoskop
Boddinstrasse 7
Neukölln
Berlin
EXHIBITION IS AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC VIEW ON TUESDAYS 14:00 - 19:00 (2 PM - 7 PM) AND FRIDAYS 19:00 - 22:00 (7 PM - 10 PM)
http://berlinlist.com/gallery-guide/exhibition/growing-in-lightness
Berlin
Ends 18.05.2012
Growing in Lightness is an investigation of the idea of a „voyage“, of the spirit and of the two Italian artists working together in a foreign city. Growing in Lightness is also a mental journey through new ideas and new ways of explaining each other together. Casadei and Zanet are stimulated by the context of a gallery and are adapting their thoughts and artistic practice–a different approach to their usual way of creation.
In this exhibition, Zanet is also leaving his usual two-dimensional medium and building a kind of tent. Casadei communicates with this idea of „nest building“ by adding fluctuating drawings to the installation. The visitor is invited to view this installation in the gallery space but also to enter it and experience it from within.
The collaboration between these two painters, which also suggests approaches from a male and female perspective, shows intervention and cooperation.

"The relation between the stars and the paper: the paper is from early 1700 to mid 1800. The person that gave me the papers had written in each corner, how old the paper is. And i wanted to work with the time or age of the paper. So i looked up stars that was the same amount of lightyears away, as the paper is old. So if the paper is 260 years old, the star drawn on the paper is 260 lightyears away, and that means that the light from the star has travelled towards us from when the paper was made."

„One’s garbage is someone else’s treasure” says the old proverb and unwanted clothes, unused suits, faded blouses smelling of old perfume are that treasure for Golińska. Once precious, favourite, perhaps used only for special events, today ripped, out of fashion, missing round or bony shapes of past owners that used to fill them, with no chance of attending a ball.
Golińska's creation is almost alchemical: from a piece of mouldy cloth the artist draws out a reflection of somebody's memories, somebody's personality. The worn out, faint mask of the clothing becomes an object – a vehicle for a presence, for a story. An artefact is like an emigrant travelling through time and space – becoming a medium, a colourful storage of images of cultures and traditions. It carries them wherever it goes, presents them from whatever wall it is being exposed on.

100 years ago, in 1912, Wassily Kandinsky published in the almanac "The Blue Rider" a text which seems to be a manifest on founding sound art - at least a foreshadowing of sound art. His writing "Über Bühnenkomposition" (On stage composition) is a theoretical preface on a planned stage piece called "Der gelbe Klang" (The yellow sound) and in this text he postulated a new connection between the arts, an "inner" connection of "sound, color, words" and movement. His piece was never realised in his lifetime.
The installation Der gelbe Klang2 (The yellow sound2) as a homage to Kandinsky takes his conceptual ideas and makes a transfer into a contemporary sound art piece. Georg Klein often works in his sound art installations with a certain color which defines togehter with a basic sound a fundamental atmosphere of a specific site, preparing a field in which more material - sounds, words, video - can appear.

Can one fragile object, in times of email, chat and mobility, pass one time all around the world safely – from hand to hand, charging itself with stories and people? Will it be the same when it returns?
For the project, more than 750 artists from all over the world work together in one same action: all will carry one fragile object step by step around the planet.
The journey of the object and the works the artists will conceive during the project will be communicated on the website and in regular newsletters.
