THIS IS THE END is a research project by Marta Ferretti and Gaia Martino, invited as curators in residency at the Errant Bodies project space. This research investigates the relationship between narration and public space in the specific context of Berlin, in collaboration with artists that propose different points of view on the possibility to imagine a narrative topography of the city.
Between May 8th and May 12th the Errant Bodies project space, research studio during the residency period, will be open to the public with interventions by Gilles Aubry, El Cocuy, Iris Touliatou and Jacopo Gallico with Marco Giani and Fabio Campagna. In parallel, it will present the curators' specific research about the neighbourhood Prenzlauer Berg, developed during the residency period: in this context the project O.S.T. takes place, it welcomes the kind collaboration of several Berlin based musicians for the composition of site specific soundtracks.

During this period it is possible to consult documentations and discuss about materials we are collecting, thanks to the research and contributions of artists and thinkers invited to take part in this project. We are glade to welcome as well new dialogues and points of view by people interesed in these questions, with the aim to imagine the possibility of a narrative topography of Berlin. We intend narrative topography as a constantly work in progress, a tool useful to explore urban spaces for their specific stratification of imaginaries, stories and local dynamics, through a personal engagement and a lived experience of places. Narrative topography is a method for site specific practice, rather than a concluded map.

Tradition | Mythology | Rituals / The Three Shepherds and the Virgin
- A contemporary interpretation -
Sérgio Cruz’s second solo exhibition at ACI features video art created during a residency in Nodar |Portugal. The specific rituals, the Christian mythology that pervades daily life, the local traditions, as well as the characteristics of that region, its landscape, light, sound and colours serve as the basis for two immensely sensitive and sensual video art pieces.
The outcome is a cinematic homage to key moments - childhood and the transition to adulthood – that manages to transport both the lightness and gravity inherent in them. Cruz creates echo images that enter the subconscious and reverberate…

"Jacob of Toves Salon and I met last year in Rome. In a blink of an eye we agreed that today the photographic process would be the only opening future perspectives in a time of artistic stalemate.
Ghostbusters (or how to stress photography) is an exhibition on photography without photography. Or perhaps and more correct, without photographic pieces in it.
Seven international artists reflect on the photographic procedure and methodology through old and new productions realized for Toves Salon – Charlottenborg Temporary Exhibition Space. Seven different statements about photographic signs as signifying elements, about mapping and tracking an environment, about transfer and translation from one medium to another, about the constitutive ingredients of photography: light and matter (phôs – light, graphè – writing), about the role of the author in the photographic process..."

42 | Ralf Tekaat
The installation Fortytwo is about the goal to run the Berlin Marathon (42 Kilometers) in September. Currently I am 42 years old. I connect the obsession of running with my obsession to do art, especially my obsession of doing pencil drawings. There are similarities between drawing and running: the slow pace, the steady rhythm line by line, step by step. Sometime You get to the flow and forget that You run or draw. But sometimes it is just pain.
At some point it is as absurd to run 42 kilometers as it is to make pencil drawings in a scale of two by three meters.

G.A.S-station

Ends 31.05.2013
It is about Marathon, about MArtha and MArter (torture), about "The Happy Ending of Franz Kafka's Amerika" by MArtin Kippenberger, Amerika (or AkireMA) as a Metaphor of Hope and Glory, about Ma and that there is no MA in cancer.
Of course, it is also about “the answers to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything” (If you’ve read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, you already know that the answer to said questions is ultimately 42). So I am expecting to become enlightened, at the end, somehow.
Finally, it is also about trying to hold the pace of life itself.

This new work by Nancy Atakan investigates the extreme routes taken by contemporary individuals and societies to become attractive to others whether it be the opposite sex or foreign investors. Women and men undergo surgery to alter their physical appearance. Politicians promote urban transformation to attract global investment. Plastic surgeons add to and take away from human bodies like sculptors molding clay. Urban developers thoughtlessly demolish communities and ways of life for profit. Societies that place high value on beauty and youth continuously change, disguise and eliminate the ‘Old’ built structure or human body. Violence of this type can be physical or psychological. Atakan uses a variety of techniques including silkscreen, photography, digital prints and digital video to transform discarded objects found in the local flea market.

You're invited to follow the amazing global art initiative 'FRAGILE - global performance chain journey' in which more than 750 artists from 62 countries are participating.
Can one fragile object, in times of email, chat and mobility, pass one time all around the world safely – from hand to hand, charging itself with stories and people? Will it be the same when it returns?
For the project, more than 750 artists from all over the world work together in one same action: all will carry one fragile object step by step around the planet.
The journey of the object and the works the artists will conceive during the project will be communicated on the website and in regular newsletters.
